It’s no secret that this group has been pretty much taken over by
Spammers, so my question is there another location where Marx Brother
fans are posting?

I have no idea if there is a popular web-based forum where Marx Bros
fans are more active. Unfortunately, Usenet groups are less
frequented than they were ten-twelve years ago and the dreaded spam
has taken over many of them. My news server (news.optonline.net, via
my Cablevision account) must have pretty decent filters because I
really don't get much spam (and it's not like I've set fancy filtering
devices through my newsreader, Agent, either). Some gets through, but
not the amount friends on rec.roller-coaster tell me they are seeing.
Although I don't post much on RRC these days, it was quite active
between 1996 and ~ 2003 before web sites with forums kinda took over
that scene.

Was a time when it was the kiddies trolling and causing trouble. I'm
sure most younger people are only vaguely aware that Usenet exists and
the ones who do don't bother with it ("Tell me about the old days and
newsgroups, Daddy!"). Now it's the spammers.

Anyhow, I don't think any of the MB web sites are hosting active
forums, but I haven't checked recently.

I would never belong to a news group that would have me as a
member! :-)

Yeah. And I imagine the possibilities of "Nightlife and Patong Girls
- Girls Gone Anti-Feminist - Beautiful and friendly Girls!" might have
amused the Brothers had the Internet/WWW become available and
accessible to them during their heyday. :-)

I know of two that can be joined -
crazyforthemarxbrothers-***@yahoogroups.com and
***@lists.panix.com. For the latter you have to put "subscribe
marx-brothers <your-email-address>" in the text of the email. I belong to
both and have survived unscathed. Unfortunately the late great Ducklist is
no longer functioning.
